Job Summary:
APR's Maintenance & Reliability Engineering team oversee and maintain the life cycle of the power generating assets such as gas turbines, reciprocating engines, and auxiliary power plant equipment. The Senior Manager of Maintenance & Reliability Engineering will lead a team of engineers that supports the life cycle management of the main power generation & auxiliary equipment. This team will maintain the assets and the systems that are a key part of the Operations department, maintenance, remote monitoring, and equipment troubleshooting. The Senior Manager of Maintenance & Reliability Engineering will directly report to the Sr. Director of Operations and Maintenance and will work closely with the Plants and other supporting departments such as Engineering and Construction, IT, Finance, Supply Chain, and Commercial/Sales. In addition, the Manager will work with the Field Services Managers and other engineers (direct & indirect reports) to align company goals of reliability, availability, speed, and performance to provide a competitive edge in the marketplace.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
• Create a safe work environment for the team
• Lead a team of engineers to support the Total Life Cycle of power generation equipment (Gas Turbines, Reciprocating Engines, and auxiliaries)
• Manage/Change/Evolve systems related to asset management & maintenance (CAM)
• Manage/Change/Evolve systems related to remote monitoring, diagnostics, modeling, and troubleshooting of plant equipment (OSI Pi)
• Maintain Plant Reliability with the use of Failure analysis, Root cause analysis, or other means to prevent unscheduled downtime of critical plant equipment.
• Develop paths to improve maintenance of the gas turbine power plants reliability and performance to reduce mechanical downtime and help improve plant production efficiency
• Plan and guide component life extensions and condition-based maintenance best practices
• Review changes in preventative maintenance programs and predictive maintenance analytics
• Plan major outages, idle maintenance, or other key projects to prepare for future goals and asset readiness.
• Plan, forecast, budget, and track Major Maintenance activities and upgrades
• Support and work with the Plant Team, Engineers, and Field Service team to align and achieve team goals.
• Set standards for documentation and cataloging: (maintenance reports, inspections, specs, manuals, etc.)
• Manage OEM relationships and those of major suppliers (GE, Siemens, Brush, MTU, Caterpillar, etc.)
• Work with OEM in the development of short- and long-term goals to reduce company expenses. • Support compliance with all management systems including document control, procedures, service bulletins, maintenance records, asset tracking, bill of materials, spare parts, and tools
• Plan strategic goals, refurbishment of equipment or cores, and demand planning of critical parts & tools.
• Develop risk analysis, ROI’s, comparisons and cost models on large Capital expenditures and new technologies
• Support corporate requirements across departments (Finance, Commercial, Asset Sales, Purchasing, Logistics, Human Resources, Operations, etc.)
• Ensure correct operating procedures are followed regarding safety, environmental, and project objectives
• Implement Strategic time and cost saving improvements within your goals and objectives
• Foster an environment for unexperienced engineers to grow and learn.
Requirements:
• 5+ years as in an engineering field or equivalent technical related field, including past experience managing employees.
• Bachelors in Engineering
• Additional education and experience in Business management and Finance is preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in power generation
• Technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills for power plant equipment & machinery
• Well organized and able to proficiently adjust priorities in an ever-changing environment
• Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative high paced environment
• Experience with managing vendors or OEMs.
Additional Proficiencies Preferred:
• Strong oral and written communication skills required
• MS Office Suite Experience required
• Training/background with reliability engineering skills (FAR, RCA, etc.)
Travel requirements:
Less than 25% domestic and/or international travel likely.
