Business Transformation Specialist

Position Description:

The Business Transformation Specialist drives business performance and assists in implementing culture transformation throughout the organization. Using process improvement and project management techniques, this position identifies, implements, and manages cross-functional programs and initiatives for strategic operational and financial performance improvements. This further includes seeking opportunities to positively impact operating and capital expenses through process simplification, system automation and digitalization. This position may be required to work closely with internal and external business contacts, while maintaining strict confidentiality.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Is familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005) and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS). In keeping with this and other compliance policies, they understand their duty to report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to their manager or members of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) either directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines
  • In co-ordination with the Director Business Transformation, leads efforts to improve company performance through organizational structures, IT systems, and Process Excellence initiatives.
  • Seeks opportunities to elevate performance excellence throughout the organization using process improvement and project management techniques
  • Engages with internal and external stakeholders to determine business value drivers through process simplification and data automation initiatives
  • Engages in designing transformative corporate programs focused on innovation and culture changes that derive business value
  • Evaluates business initiatives from a multi-functional business analysis perspective, implement change management techniques for sustainable execution of initiatives
  • Aligns cross-functional internal and external resources to ensure project completion is holistic and cohesive to the organization’s programs and strategy
  • Manages cross-functional programs to deliver Process Excellence and Digital Transformation improvements. Establishes project organization and governance.
  • Coordinates organizational improvement ideas and monitors organization culture to strategically develop people/process/system solutions.
  • Manages and continuously improves operational data strategy for accuracy, transparency, efficiency, and user experience and is highly involved in the technology and digitalization strategy of the organization
  • Develops, monitors, and assists with KPIs, goals and objectives for Operations departments, including financial performance for the Seaspan fleet, and may provide recommendations for improvement
  • Supports executive projects where required, including preparation and submission of key reports to the Board of Directors
  • Assists in coordinating budget preparation across operational functions and ensures alignment with overall company budgeting process
  • Engages with internal and external contacts for benchmarking and analysis projects involving operational and financial performance
  • Assists the organization on developing benefit cases for new initiatives

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience with process improvement or project management
  • Experience with process analysis, business case development or strategy planning and execution
  • Ability to create and manage professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders as a central point of contact within the organization
  • General understanding of corporate structures and business concepts
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills, with good writing style
  • Sound organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Detail-oriented and resourceful with a solution-driven attitude

 

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a ship management company would be an asset
  • Lean Six Sigma or other Process Improvement certification would be an asset
  • PMP or similar project management certification would be an asset
  • Experience with data analytics would be an asset

 

Job Demands and/or Physical Requirements:

  • Must carry a mobile device outside of office hours and check in regularly
  • Able to lift packages (e.g. courier, supplies) weighing up to 10 kg
  • Able to work for extended periods at a computer

 

Compensation and Benefits Package:

Seaspan’s total compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture. The hiring range for this position is $76,000 - $90,000 CAD per annum. The exact base salary offered will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity.
