Cloud Infrastructure Administrator

Position Description:

The Cloud Infrastructure Administrator is Seaspan’s IT systems technical expert. The Cloud Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for the technical design and build-out of proposals, planning, implementation, documentation, monitoring and maintenance of all IT infrastructure systems.

Job Responsibilities:

• Actively monitors major cloud and on-premises services including compute, storage area networks, security, services, applications, and networking
• Responds to critical alerts and applies corrective actions to resolve problems while following best practice guidelines quickly and efficiently
• Documents problem resolution and provides documentation as required
• Acts as point of escalation for applications, marine IT and service delivery teams to support business applications and provides end-user support when required
• Supports IT infrastructure and software on vessels remotely or in person when required
• Designs, manages and administers backup and disaster recovery systems. Performs regular checks to ensure proper operation
• Monitors enterprise SIEM, and other applications within the environment for security events, security bulletins and updates. Responsible for enterprise patch management services to apply updates, patches and fixes as required to maintain security standards
• Provides day-to-day administration of on-premises and cloud-based solutions including but not limited to: Hybrid Exchange, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Office 365, VMware and other virtualization technologies, Windows server environment, Fortinet firewalls , network switches, Okta identity and access management, Citrix Cloud, HCI Hyper-V Clusters
• Participates in IT procurement, application deployment and testing as required. Works with vendors and customers to implement business solutions through all phases of lifecycle management.
• Automates repetitive business processes using scripts to increase system efficiencies
• 24-hour standby monitoring of the IT Emergency Phone 1-2 weeks per month

Requirements:

• Degree or diploma in IT, computer science or similar
• Azure, MCSA/MCSE, CCNA, FortiNet Certifications a strong asset
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an IT role
• Self-driven, organized, and work well both independently and in a team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style
• Excellent understanding of IT systems and infrastructure
• Valid passport and ability to travel internationally

Additional Desired Qualifications:

• CISSP
• Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines
• Ability to multitask

Job Demands and/or Physical Requirements:

• Occasional travel and/or international travel is required, potentially on short notice
• Occasional work in industrial environments is required
• Availability via a company-provided mobile device outside of office hours
• Ability to lift up to 25 kg
• Sufficient mobility to complete equipment installations, cabling and other setup tasks
