We are looking for a Crew Management Intern who will assist in the monitoring of Fleet Personnel daily operations. Provides support and acts as a facilitator between the Fleet Personnel, Corporate Communications, and global manning regions. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in reviewing crew claims tracking and following up with the accounting and regional offices on closures.
  • Assists in establishing a social media outreach for seafarers.
  • Assists in the application of the performance management systems and procedures that provides ongoing support to Fleet Personnel’s line management staff.
  • Coordinates with different manning agents located in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, and China, regarding various crewing-related matters.
  • Revisiting Safety Management System to ensure Fleet Personnel policy and procedures are up to date and comply with the updated regulatory framework.  
  • Assists in overseeing and ensuring correct administration of Fleet Personnel documents such as performance appraisals, invoice coding, CBA distribution and application, and disciplinary documentation
  • Gathers information from company systems (e.g. Compas) to respond to queries, follow up, provide ad hoc reports or to provide data for reports as required.
  • Assists in setting up the initiative for visiting Masters and Chief Engineers to the Vancouver Office.
  • Performs any other ad hoc duties as assigned. 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Handles confidential and privileged information appropriately.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with good writing style, some basic design skills is a bonus
  • Excellent attention to detail and technical writing skills.

 

Compensation:

 

This is a 4-month temporary full-time role. Seaspan’s compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture. The compensation range for this position is $21-$23/hr. The exact base pay offered will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity.
