FP&A Analyst

Position Description:

The FP&A team is the center of analytical excellence to drive insightful business decisions and strategy across the organization, and is responsible for creating value and influencing behavior across the business through strategic and financial planning, forecasting, and creative analysis to derive insights. A successful Analyst is a continuous learner who is passionate about financial modeling, delving into data to find value, and building relationships to ensure alignment. The Analyst will support the Manager, FP&A and Senior Manager, FP&A, who are responsible for the direction and leadership of the group. This role has significant opportunity and room to grow as value is generated.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and update financial models and analytics to support the organization’s financial decision-making
  • Maintain and develop processes and procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Enhance, develop, and prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts in normal course, and on an ad-hoc basis to explore value-add opportunities identified
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively within the FP&A team as well as other stakeholders
  • Develop long-term strategic forecasting including scenario analysis
  • Monitor and report on KPI performance, trends, and variances
  • Manage the development of new reporting tools and systems
  • Identify and advise on potential risks and opportunities
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve the efficiency and usability of financial reporting
  • Become a power user of the business’s newly implemented Oracle EPM platform
  • Explore opportunities to simplify and enhance current processes and deliverables
  • Assist in long-term strategic forecasting including scenario analysis
  • Manage and coordinate the preparation of ad-hoc analysis and reports

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in financial planning and analysis or field providing similar skillset
  • Advanced knowledge of financial modeling and analysis
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to derive meaning from financial data and communicate results
  • Positive mindset, energetic and strong desire to learn
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships and a team-first mentality
  • Creative mindset to think outside the box and develop new solutions

 

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience using a planning & budgeting application, ideally Oracle EPM
  • Experience using BI applications, particularly Power BI, and coding/programming skills
  • Experience with automation workflows

 

Job Demands and/or Physical Requirements:

  • Potential periodic overtime to meet deadlines or accommodate time zone differences

 

Compensation and Benefits Package:

Seaspan’s total compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture. The hiring range for this position is $82,000 - $95,000 CAD per annum. The exact base salary offered will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity.
