The Finance Operations Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless execution of Accounts Payable (AP) and Record to Report (RtR) processes across the organization. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional who excels in managing complex financial operations, building performance dashboards, and overseeing service level agreements (SLAs) with the Managed Services provider. The Analyst will work closely with Global Process Owners, business leads, and cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency, monitor performance metrics, and drive process improvements that align with strategic objectives.
Performance Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards to provide actionable insights into AP and RtR process performance, KPIs, and trends
- Analyze data from multiple sources to identify process inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Monitor SLAs for the Managed Services team, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and business expectations
- Provide regular performance reports to leadership, highlighting achievements, risks, and recommendations for improvement
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives by identifying pain points and implementing best practices
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technology advancements to ensure best-in-class operation
Accounts Payable (AP):
- Develop, implement, and monitor AP policies, guidelines, and frameworks to ensure compliance and efficiency
- Act as a point of contact for stakeholders, resolving complex queries and escalations related to AP processes
- Analyze and resolve invoice exceptions and discrepancies in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including Managed Service teams
- Review and approve payment remittances for high-value vendors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Oversee vendor master data management, including creation, updates, and verification, ensuring adherence to governance standards
- Partner with Managed Services team to identify bottlenecks, streamline processes, and enhance service delivery
Record to Report (RtR):
- Contribute to month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries and working paper reviews
- Support the preparation of management reports, dashboards, and variance analyses, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness
- Assist in analyzing account balances and transactions to resolve discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy
- Identify and drive initiatives to standardize and optimize RtR processes across the organization
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in finance operations, with hands-on experience in AP and RtR functions
- Experience working in a shared services or outsourced finance environment is highly desirable2 to 3 years of supervisory experience in mid to large sized organisation
- Strong grip on Accounting concepts and in-depth knowledge to reviewing journals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent financial platforms
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Out of box thinking and bringing new ideas to improvise / bring efficiencies
- Close coordination between multiple teams to achieve expected results
Compensation and Benefits Package:
Seaspan’s total compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture. The hiring range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 CAD per annum. The exact base salary offered will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity.
