Intern - Fleet Performance

Position Description:

 

The intern in the Fleet Performance Team would work on the following:

  • Oversee performance evaluations of the fleet against charter agreements and periodic reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments in troubleshooting root cause evaluations of performance issues.
  • Support the development of data analysis as well as performance and emission Key Performance Indicators.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing the performance of the fleet, including fuel consumption, speed, and operational efficiency.
  • Collect and interpret data from various sources, such as onboard IoT sensors and performance reports.
  • Support the development and implementation of performance improvement initiatives aligning with Seaspan’s decarbonization strategy.
  • Support in the creation of an overview of potential future technologies for ocean-going vessels and develop the information into a repository & presentation.
  • Support with the maintenance of compliance reporting, including data validation checks and vessel communication.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Naval Architecture, or Marine Engineering
  • At least two (2) years of experience working in the marine industry
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Maritime Studies, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of complex machinery systems, ship energy efficiency, and performance optimization of ship operations, machinery, and hydrodynamic performance
  • Technology enthusiast who can source innovative technology
  • Works well within a team, and leverages the skills and experience of others 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound organizational/ prioritization skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, with strong Excel skills for working with calculations, graphs, and statistical analyses based on large data sets

 

Compensation and Benefits package

Seaspan’s total compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture. The hiring range for this position is $21 - $23 CAD per hour. The exact base salary offered will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity.
