Position Description:
The Marine Standards Intern supports the Seaspan Shipmanagement Ltd. Marine Standards department for the effective implementation of the company Management System. The Marine Standards Intern assists with general office, Accounting and as determined and directed by the MS Team. Additionally, the Intern shall assist and work with the Development and Advisory Services staff as well as outside vendors as required. The Office Intern will be responsible for assisting the staff with general office duties and functions including, but not limited to, research, data entry, filing and general coordination.
Job Responsibilities:
- Is familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005), and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS). Additionally, be familiar with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Framework and Governance Policies.
- Assists with:
- Tracking, managing Safety management System document, uploads/withdraws/changes.
- Ongoing and new projects, updates report, conducts research, writ and edit documents,
- Event and meeting planning and administration of events,
- Plan, Track and Manage various Audits/Inspections (VECP, Internal Audits and Investigations) managed by Marine Standards.
- Coordinate, Manage and Track roving auditors travel plan,
- Periodic reporting, updates and presentations relating to Marine Standards reports (Weekly Catch up, Monthly Near Miss, CSSF Data, BMT reports, EMS and OH& S targets)
- Report distribution with the stakeholders and collate their feedback,
- Communicating the initiatives and campaigns with vessel and shore staff and collate the feedback.
- Newbuild projects by preparing following:
- CSR - (Templates) getting the forms filled in for each vessel.
- SSP - (Templates) getting the forms filled in for each vessel.
- Electronic Binder spines
- BNs- Bulkhead notices
- Planning for Town Hall
- Preparing expense reports and invoices.
- Managing the flow of paperwork,
- Performs other duties as required.
- Facilitate Marine Standards Team as necessary
- Participate in the Company's intern working group project, collaborating with team members from diverse departments at Seaspan
Requirements:
- Eager to learn and work with various departments in the organization.
- Experience with quantitative analysis, basic HTML, and/or event management a plus
- Have an open attitude for learning.
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style

Compensation and Benefits package:
Seaspan’s total compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture. The hiring range for this position is $21 - $23 CAD per hour. The exact base salary offered will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity.
