Intern - Maritime Technology

Position Description:

The P&T Intern would work with the Maritime Technology team to:

  • Support with strategically important topics such as:
    • Newbuild hydrodynamic and cargo optimization
    • Digitalization of fleet and vessel performance
    • Decarbonization of fleet emissions through technical improvements and conversions

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support with Time Charter Description and fuel consumption baseline database updates.
  • Support in the creation of an overview of potential future technologies for ocean going vessels and develop the information into a repository & presentation.
  • Support setting up a database of ship components and technologies that can be utilized in basic ship energy balance calculations and simulations.
  • Support with the maintenance of Vessel Reporting Data (VRS), including data validation checks and documentation of the utilized data fields.
  • Support with fuel efficiency evaluations and ship performance reviews.
  • Support with documentation of new processes, code, and software related projects related to Seaspan’s decarbonization strategy.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture, Master’s degree student
  • Background in maritime or other engineering
  • Technology enthusiast who can source innovative technology
  • Intermediate/advanced Excel skills 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multi-tasking
  • Able to work with energy, showing initiative, resourcefulness and care for detail, neatness, diligence, in a fast-paced environment
  • Optional: Good skills in scripting and programming with Python
