Position Description 

The Procurement Intern will play a key role in supporting the Procurement Department within Seaspan Ship Management Ltd. This internship provides hands-on experience across various procurement functions, including data analysis, supplier engagement, and process optimization. The successful candidate will gain exposure to sourcing strategies, contract management, and cost-efficiency projects while collaborating with global suppliers and stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
As part of a global team, the intern will have the opportunity to develop analytical, negotiation, and collaboration skills, gaining valuable insights into the intricacies of international procurement. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring procurement professional to build technical expertise and thrive in a global business setting.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with global suppliers and stakeholders to support innovative procurement initiatives and ensure seamless business operations.
  • Support with sourcing and efficiency projects, contributing to the development of new frameworks and strategies.
  • Perform data analysis, build Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models, and derive actionable insights to drive value creation for Seaspan.
  • Support the design and implementation of innovative solutions for procurement challenges and process improvements.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective sourcing, negotiation, and project execution.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze large datasets from various sources, and document key findings to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and monitoring, while preparing comprehensive project documentation.
  • Assist in contracting and price negotiations to secure favorable commercial terms and conditions for Seaspan.
  • Document business requirements, maintain repositories, and generate reports to support procurement strategies.

 

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program, preferably in Business, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office applications.
  • Creativity and innovation mindset with the ability to design frameworks and contribute to new project initiatives.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive, results-driven attitude and strong self-direction.
  • Skilled in working with large datasets, deriving actionable insights, and developing efficient solutions. 
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills for engaging with global suppliers and stakeholders.

 

 

Compensation and Benefits package: 

Seaspan’s total compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture. The hiring range for this position is $21 - $23 CAD per hour. The exact base salary offered will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity.
