Intern - Ship Management

Position Description

The Ship Management Intern would report to the Fleet Manager and work with the Fleet Management Team to review maintenance procedures and incorporate various preparations and checklists to ensure tracking.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Reviewing of maintenance procedures, in particular with Deck Maintenance
  • Tracking various preparations and checklists
  • Review Drydock module in FMS enhancement
  • Support with FMS updates in preparing maintenance data sheets using FMS templates
  • Prepare various new equipment BWTS/ EGCS compliance checks
  • Prepare reference check sheets and incorporate in FMS
  • Support the team in identifying alternate spare parts (OEM and Generic)
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Fleet Directors/Fleet Managers
  • Attending department meetings to gain broad exposure to a wide range of procurement topics
  • Participating in contracting and price negotiations as relevant
  • Performing complex data analysis to support strategic decisions
  • Support the Teams in identifying critical spares

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • A background in maritime would be an asset
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Able to work with energy, showing initiative, resourcefulness and care for detail, neatness, diligence, in a fast-paced environment

 

 

Compensation and Benefits package: 

Seaspan’s total compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture. The hiring range for this position is $21 - $23 CAD per hour. The exact base salary offered will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity.
