The Manager, Fleet IT Operations is accountable for reliable, secure, and standardized vessel IT service delivery across the fleet, including connectivity, onboard infrastructure, end-user support, operational continuity, and alignment with business and cybersecurity objectives. This role leads the execution of fleet IT operations, manages Vessel IT Specialists, coordinates with infrastructure, cybersecurity, architecture, and business application teams, and ensures vessel technology standards support safe, resilient, and efficient ship operations.
This is a full-time, on-site role based out of our Hong Kong office. Work outside of standard office hours will be required.
Job Responsibilities:

Lead day-to-day fleet IT operations, including vessel network and systems infrastructure, satellite and communication services, secure remote access, monitoring, backups, disaster recovery, and operational continuity.

Manage, coach, and prioritize work for Vessel IT Specialists providing tier 1-3 support to vessels, captains, crew, and shoreside fleet stakeholders.

Maintain clear service ownership, escalation paths, work assignments, resource plans, performance measures, and regular status reporting for fleet IT operations.

Develop, implement, and audit fleet IT standards, procedures, training, asset records, software controls, and support practices to ensure consistency across vessels.

Partner with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Architecture, Business Applications, and regional IT teams to maintain stable vessel technology platforms and deliver long-term improvements.

Execute cybersecurity requirements across the vessel IT environment, including secure configuration, endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, access controls, and alignment with corporate cybersecurity standards.

Manage vendors, procurement, licensing, equipment lifecycle, service levels, regional sourcing options, and support arrangements related to vessel IT services.

Support vessel technology lifecycle and modernization by operationalizing architecture standards, managing transition to support, coordinating newbuild readiness, maintaining asset lifecycle plans, and monitoring vendor performance.

Plan and support vessel upgrades, shipboard implementations, dry dock activities, and newbuild technology readiness in coordination with fleet stakeholders and project teams.

Maintain regular engagement with Fleet Directors, superintendents, vessel leadership, and senior IT management to confirm service expectations, operational priorities, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Requirements & Qualifications:

Degree or diploma in information technology, computer science, engineering, or related discipline.

Five or more years of progressive IT operations experience, including at least two years leading or supervising technical staff.

Experience supporting distributed, remote, or operational technology environments where service availability, connectivity, and incident response are business critical.

Strong knowledge of networking, firewalls, routing, switching, VPN, DNS, DHCP, secure remote access, monitoring, backup, and endpoint management technologies.

Working knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure, identity services, virtualization, storage, scripting, and service management practices.

Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, allocate resources, lead technical staff, improve processes, communicate clearly, and deliver reliable support in a 24/7 operating environment.

Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to engage vessel leadership, fleet stakeholders, vendors, and senior IT management.
- Experience with ITIL practices, ServiceNow or similar IT service management platforms, fleet asset management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Sufficient mobility to complete cabling and setup tasks.

This is a 24/7 environment, and availability outside of office hours is occasionally required.
- Travel is required 10% of the time or as needed.

Relevant certifications such as ITIL, Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, cybersecurity, or cloud/infrastructure certifications are considered an asset.

Previous experience in the maritime, shipping, logistics, or other asset-intensive 24/7 operations environment is also considered a significant asset, including (ideally) experience with vessel connectivity, satellite communications, VOIP, SD-WAN, shipboard networks, and secure remote support tools.
