Position Description:

As a Data Warehouse Developer, your role encompasses both sustaining and enhancing existing data warehouse solutions, ensuring their ongoing data quality, reliability, and alignment with evolving business needs. In supporting business intelligence requirements, you troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues proactively, ensuring seamless functionality. Collaboration with cross-functional teams remains pivotal, and you adhere to industry best practices to continuously improve data warehouse solutions. Beyond sustainment, your expertise extends to enhancing existing data models, ensuring their effectiveness aligns with evolving business objectives. Importantly, this role serves as a developer for projects, bringing innovation to the development of new data warehouse solutions, ensuring they meet the organization's dynamic analytical and reporting needs.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced SQL querying skills for data retrieval, manipulation, and optimization, along with experience in optimizing queries for enhanced performance and resource efficiency.
  • Apply strong data analysis skills to interpret and derive insights from complex datasets, incorporating knowledge of statistical analysis for data interpretation and decision-making.
  • Understand business processes and requirements to align data warehouse solutions with organizational goals, demonstrating the ability to translate business needs into technical specifications.
  • Design and implement ETL processes for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading, and familiarity with ETL tools.
  • Implement data governance policies to ensure data quality, integrity, and security, and possess knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements related to data management.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive data dictionary, documenting data definitions, relationships, and attributes for effective data governance. Maintain detailed documentation for data warehouse architecture, processes, and configurations to facilitate transparency and understanding.
  • Exhibit proficiency in designing and implementing data models that align with business requirements, including knowledge of star schema, snowflake schema, and data mart design.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in data warehouse processes, actively monitoring and optimizing data warehouse performance.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Developer or in a similar relevant work experience.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret and derive insights from complex datasets.
  • Experience in designing and implementing ETL processes for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing data governance policies to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements related to data management.
  • Proficient in designing and implementing data models that align with business requirements.
  • Understanding of data warehousing principles and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address issues related to data quality, integrity, and system performance.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in creating and maintaining detailed documentation for data warehouse architecture, processes, and configurations.
  • Familiarity with version control systems for managing changes to data warehouse structures and code.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

 

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate familiarity with Power BI for data visualization and reporting, showcasing the ability to create interactive and insightful dashboards for business users is a plus.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in scripting languages like Python, providing additional flexibility in data manipulation and analysis is nice to have. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Cloud services and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Knowledge of IoT data processing and big data technologies.
  • Relevant certifications in related fields are a plus. 

 

Job Demands and/or Physical Requirements:

  • As Seaspan is a global company, occasional work outside of regular office hours may be required.
