Position Description:

As a member of the Financial Reporting Team, the Financial Reporting Specialist works a global finance team member, supporting the preparation of financial statements. The Financial Reporting Specialist will work to prepare financial information in support of internal Management Reporting as well as the preparation of GAAP financial statements. This role will also help ensure the proper data is captured for financial records.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports the preparation of working papers and monthly reports to the Board of Directors and Executive Management.
  • Updates and roll forward forecast files monthly, based on actuals.
  • Updates and is responsible for commercial changes, such as chartering agreements being appropriately captured in financial records.
  • Ensure complete and through company data in the company’s EPM software, rolling forward specific modules on a monthly basis.
  • Reconciles monthly FP&A reports and ensure alignment with monthly financial reporting.
  • Downloads and updates SOFR curve information for company forecasts.
  • Complete monthly reporting tasks using the company’s financial consolidation tools.
  • Prepares audit working papers and responds to queries from external and internal auditors.
  • Complete monthly flash reports to capture the data from the financial and management reports.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Management, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Certified in a recognized professional accounting membership (eg. CA).
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of accounting experience in a consulting or professional accounting firm and/or a combination of this and in-house experience.
  • Exposure to financial data, management reporting and company reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of management reporting principles.
  • Understands and has applied internal controls and process redevelopment.
  • Very good working knowledge of MS Office applications specifically Excel and Word.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.

 

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with US GAAP or SEC filers.
  • Some experience with multiple office organization.
  • Familiar with financial systems software (e.g. NetSuite).

 

Job Demands and/or Physical Requirements:

  • Periodic overtime to meet deadlines or accommodate time zone differences.
