Position Description:

The HR and Talent Acquisition Business Partner develops and implements strategic recruitment initiatives that attract and retain high performing talent to Seaspan.  This role will be hands’ on with talent acquisition (full-cycle recruitment), onboarding, employee relations, training and employer branding initiatives.  The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, can operate at a fast pace and is passionate about continuous improvement. This position plays a key role in building a strong employer brand for our company to ensure we attract, hire and retain the most qualified employees.  

 

Key Functions:

  • Accountable for managing all job requisitions and full-cycle recruitment for these requisitions:
  • Partners with hiring managers to design, update and target job descriptions for ideal candidate profiles 
  • Advertises job openings on company’s careers page, social media, job boards and internally
  • Sources and screens potential candidates from various online channels (e.g. social media and professional platforms)
  • Builds a talent pipeline for future hiring needs
  • Focuses on delivery of key recruitment metrics such as time to hire and quality of hire 
  • Ensures a high-quality candidate experience, including all direct discussions - interviews; to indirect discussions - candidate management and hiring manager interactions 
  • Collaborates with Manager, Senior HRBP on refining recruitment strategy, aligning processes to the strategy and training managers on the processes
  • Develops, maintains and monitors employer branding efforts in partnership with a cross-functional team of experts
  • Manages the Applicant Tracking System, and leverages it for full talent acquisition capability
  • Monitor key HR metrics, including time-to-hire, quality of hire, and source of hire
  • Acts as a consultant to new hires to support their onboarding and integration into the organization 
  • Manages the off-boarding process for outgoing employees, including exit interviews, trend reporting, and supporting managers through the transition

 

Requirements:

  • Graduation in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology or relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of proven work experience as an HR Talent Acquisition Specialist, Generalist or similar role
  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems 
  • Experience with strategic sourcing, pipelining and global recruitment 
  • A can-do attitude with a drive for continuous improvement 
  • Able to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail

 

Additional/Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience recruiting for technical, financial or marine positions preferred. 
  • Exposure to international relocation and temporary work permits

 

Job Demands and Physical Requirements:

  • Periodic overtime to meet deadlines or accommodate time zone differences
  • May need to adjust hours to accommodate interviews
