Internal Audit Analyst

Position Description:

The Internal Audit Analyst is responsible for conducting operational audits in accordance with the Annual Audit plan, conducting risk assessments and supporting the Company’s efforts to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). This role is based in Mumbai, India and reports directly to the Manager, Risk & Audit Services in Vancouver.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs operational audits (assessing efficiency, effectiveness and economy) in accordance with IIA Standards.
  • Supports Finance and Operations personnel with controls and process improvement related queries and activities.
  • Performs investigations as required.
  • Assists with testing for SOX compliance.
  • Following up on audit issues and findings and agreed resolutions.
  • Promotes good corporate governance, best practices and appropriate internal controls in the company.
  • Works with other departments to communicate requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Meets with business leaders to gain understanding of business risks and needs.
  • Key point person for audit and controls testing for third-party managed services (Accenture).
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Requirements:

  • CPA or equivalent
  • Big 4 Audit Firm experience
  • Internal Audit experience (either through Big 4 Audit Firm or an industry role)
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to develop productive working relationships throughout the organization
  • Knowledge of IIA standards, internal controls and operational auditing techniques
  • Understanding of operational and accounting process flows and related controls. High level of confidentiality and sound judgement
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite

 

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in the shipping industry
  • Experience with data analytics
  • Additional relevant certifications (e.g. CIA, CISA)
  • Experience with international operations

 

Job Demands and/or Physical Requirements:

  • Periodic overtime to meet deadlines or accommodate time zone differences
  • Occasional travel (10-20%)
