The Regional Crewing Representative reports directly to the Head of Fleet Personnel. This position is responsible for Seaspan’s crewing operations in Vietnam and the Indochina countries. In accordance with company standards and policies, the purpose of this role is to provide guidance and advice on the selection and retention of the best officers and crew; build and maintain excellent relationships with appointed manning agents; work independently; and communicate effectively with our corporate offices in Vancouver and Mumbai.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic HR leadership to our seafarers in Vietnam, as well as to seafarers located in other Indochina countries
- Drives key HR initiatives for the region including; competence management, progression planning, career development, advising on talent acquisition, compensation and benefits planning, performance management, and employee relations in line with company standards and policies
- Develops and leads initiatives across regional site using company standards and policies to drive employee engagement, retention and a positive work environment
- Provides guidance on company standards and policies in resolving labor related issues, employee illness / injury / disability claims and interpreting the collective bargaining agreements
- Provides guidance on company standards and policies on overseeing Cadets recruitment and training program
- Works closely with regional manning agents in Vietnam to achieve overall business strategy and drives these initiatives from concept to implementation in line with company standards and policies
- Collaborates with worldwide regional offices and head office departments with respect to sharing information and implementing company policies, practices and guidelines
- Maintains compliance with local employment legislation
- Prepares and administers budget, forecasts expenditures and funding requirements. Analyzes and reviews financial data to develop forecasts and trends
- To be familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005), and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS). In keeping with this and other compliance policies, they understand their duty to report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to their manager or members either of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines.
Requirements:
- Minimum two years’ Sailing experience as Chief Engineer / Master
- Minimum two years’ Shore experience in manning
- Minimum Five years’ experience in HR marine environment
- Qualifications and experience in areas such as ISM auditing, ISPS Code, and Computerized Planned Maintenance and Purchasing Systems are an asset
- Proven leadership skills with excellent communication and negotiation abilities. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflict
- Good knowledge of English language, both verbal and written, is essential

Job Demands and/or Physical Requirements:
