The IT Infrastructure Specialist is a member of the IT Infrastructure team with focus on delivering Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for on-premises and cloud core infrastructure services. The role will also act as IT presence for a small office and provides dedicated, high-touch local support to a designated group of executive users. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, sound judgment, and strong customer service skills. The role also supports remote offices and vessels as relevant to the role and plays a key part in maintaining systems reliability, monitoring, configuration and security, in a multi-national 24/7 operational environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 operational support for on-premises and cloud core infrastructure, including initial troubleshooting, remediation, and escalation to higher tiers
- Participate and respond to assigned queue tickets as per defined SLAs
- Deliver priority support for user devices, collaboration tools, and meeting technologies.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, with a strong focus on professionalism and clear communication
- Monitor core infrastructure services, including compute, storage, networking, security, and cloud platforms
- Addresses critical alerts and implements corrective measures to resolve issues in accordance with best practice guidelines, ensuring prompt and efficient remediation.
- Perform day-to-day administration of Seaspan environments such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Office 365, VMware and other virtualization technologies, Windows server environment, Fortinet firewalls, network switches, access management, Citrix Cloud
- Act as escalation point for IT core infrastructure services on vessels and remote sites primarily through remote access tools
- Conduct occasional on-site visits to vessels for audits, installations, maintenance, or major issue resolution
- Manage enterprise patching and updates to ensure systems remain secure and up to date in compliance with Vulnerability Management standard
- Develop and maintain accurate documentation for IT systems, procedures, and configurations
- Automate repetitive operational tasks using scripting (e.g., PowerShell) to improve efficiency and reliability
- Manage and coordinate local IT vendors and service providers, including scheduling on-site support, overseeing service delivery, and ensuring work aligns with operational, security, and quality standards.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Five or more years of experience in an IT infrastructure role.
- Degree or diploma in Information Technology, or equivalent combination of experience and certifications.
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals and protocols (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN).
- Knowledge and working experience with Windows desktop, Windows Server, O365, Intune and Azure platform.
- Hands-on experience with Virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMWare) and Cloud technology.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise grade switching and Firewalls.
- Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell.
- Fast learner with demonstrated willingness to learn.
- Team player who is self-driven and organized.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- CCNA, CCNP, AZ-103, AZ-700 desired.
- Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
- Holder of a valid passport with ability to travel internationally (many various destinations.)
- No known restrictions preventing entry into foreign countries.
- Ability to lift 25 kg.
- Sufficient mobility to complete equipment installation, cabling, and setup tasks in tight spaces.
This is a 24/7 environment and availability via mobile outside of office hours is occasionally required as part of an on-call rotation.
