The Total Rewards Analyst works with the Senior Manager, Total Rewards and HR Systems to oversee Seaspan’s compensation, performance management, and benefits programs. 
The primary focus of this role is on delivering total rewards programs and being the subject matter expert in compensation, benefits and performance management related programs. The Senior Analyst participates in the improvement and evolution of Seaspan’s HR Systems, Data and Analytics to support corporate HR initiatives and the needs of the Company. This role will be integral in the oversight and guidance of the data and analytical work done in support of. Additionally, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for managing relationships with the business and vendors who provide compensation and benefits services to Seaspan.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement Total Rewards programs that effectively communicate and support the organization’s mission and strategic vision.
  • Manage the execution and delivery of Seaspan’s total rewards programs, act as subject matter expert and provide consultative services and expertise on issues and concerns.
  • Provides quantitative and qualitative analysis to support HR programs and initiatives, for compensation, benefits, talent & performance management, and audit requirements.
  • Partners with the business and the Finance department to develop and manage the annual headcount and people budget, including monthly headcount run rate reporting for the executive leadership team and headcount cost projection to the Finance department.
  • Partners with the business and FP&A to develop the annual people budget.

 

Compensation: 

  • Supports Seaspan’s annual common-date review process, which includes the planning, administration and communication of the Company’s annual bonus and salary review programs; liaise with Finance to ensure alignment to budgets and key financial metrics; 
  • Develops and maintains standard and custom reports and provides internal clients with ad-hoc data for use in statistical analysis, strategic planning, internal/external surveys and presentations and reports;
  • Manages global filings in relation to income taxes (as required);
  • Implements and maintains global compensation programs, policies, processes and tools with a view towards creating operational efficiencies and improvements;
  • Provide counsel to leadership, managers, Human Resources colleagues and associates on pay decisions, policies and guidelines;
  • Conducts compensation market benchmarking analysis; maintains existing salary ranges and ensures current rates are competitive, and support recruitment and retention and reward high-performing associates; and
  • Collaborates with HR and senior leaders on structure, role changes and related job analysis

 

Benefits:

  • Supports annual benefits renewal processes;

 

HRIS & Analytics:

  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of HR reporting and metrics to provide insight into business decisions;
  • Supports HR projects to achieve our key initiatives and to continuously improve how we achieve outstanding results and support the business; 

 

Requirements:

  • A post-secondary degree in Business/Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in compensation, payroll and benefits, including job evaluation, compensation and benefits analysis, and administration and quantitative modeling; 
  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) and CBP (Certified Benefits Professional) designation or working towards the designation would be considered an asset;
  • Well-developed logical, analytical, problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with high attention to detail and accuracy; 
  • High degree of computer literacy with advanced Excel skills; and
  • Solid communication, writing and presentation skills.

 

Qualifications considered as an asset:

  • High degree of conscientiousness; proven ability to manage sensitive or confidential information;
  • Self-starter with the ability to resolve complex issues and problems; able to work with little supervision; and
  • Experience with one of the Tier 1 HCM solutions (e.g. SuccessFactors, ADP, UKG etc.) is a plus 

 

Compensation and Benefits Package:

Seaspan’s total compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture. The hiring range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 CAD per annum. The exact base salary offered will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity. In addition to base salary, we offer a competitive total rewards package which includes an annual performance-based bonus, a comprehensive benefits package (extended health, dental, life and disability insurance), retirement savings plan matching and other company-provided rewards.
